What is the registration timeline?
Early registration: June 8, 2021 to August 13, 2021
Regular registration: August 14, 2021 to November 12, 2021
Late registration: November 13, 2021 to November 23, 2021
Online registration will be open through November 23, 2021. After November 23, please register onsite at the registration counter.
Can I attend AEC virtually?
You will need to register separately to attend the virtual 2021 Annual Education Conference and Trade Show. For more information, visit the virtual registration page.
If I pay for the in-person conference, will I also have access to the virtual offerings?
No. Registration for the in-person conference does not include access to the virtual conference.
How do I pay for my registration?
Credit card: CSBA accepts MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover with expiration dates after December 31, 2021. Please do not include credit card information in emails; provide a telephone number so we can call to obtain that information.
Check: Before October 1, 2021, make your check payable to California School Boards Association, c/o West America Bank; mailing address P.O. Box 1450, Suisun City, CA 94585-4450. The registration rate applied will be the rate corresponding to the date payment is received. After October 1, 2021, CSBA will not accept mailed checks as a form of payment until onsite at conference.
Can I register for the in-person conference onsite?
Yes, after November 23 you will be able to register onsite at the registration counter. Please note: no onsite registration will be available for pre-conference activities or one-day programs.
Can I pay my AEC registration with a Purchase Order?
No. CSBA does not accept purchase orders. Please see CSBA’s Payment Policy here.
How do I register a pending board member or superintendent?
Each district/COE will have up to (2) Pending Board Member placeholders and (1) Pending Superintendent placeholder. Simply select the pending designation you would like to register at this time and CSBA will contact the district/county to obtain the pending board member or superintendent’s name after the elections.
How do I update my district roster?
Please contact the CSBA Registrar at firstname.lastname@example.org to update your roster.
I am an individual who would like to register myself, and need my CSBA Member ID to register. Who should I contact?

Can I register onsite for pre-conference and one-day activities?
No. Registration for in-person pre-conferences and one-day programs closes on November 23, 2021, or until the program is sold out.
There will be no onsite registration for pre-conference programs scheduled for Wednesday, December 1, as well as Student Board Member program and Executive Assistant programs which are scheduled for Friday, December 3.
Who can attend the conference?
CSBA’s 2021 Annual Education Conference is available to CSBA member districts and county offices of education. We encourage district board members, student board members, superintendents, executive assistants, and district staff to attend.
Can my spouse come to in-person AEC with me?
Yes. Each full conference registration is limited to one spouse registration at the rate of $130. A spouse is defined as a significant other who is not affiliated with or employed by a California school district or county office of education (including board members, administrators, teachers, or staff). Co-workers or associates are not eligible to use the spouse registration category. If this registration category is used by someone other than a spouse, the registrant will be charged a full conference registration rate for that person.
What events can my spouse attend?
Spouses will receive a badge giving them access to all general sessions, breakout sessions and the Trade Show Floor. Meal functions require an additional purchased ticket for all attendees, including spouses.
I have already registered but I am no longer able to attend AEC; can I transfer my registration?
Yes. Attendees can transfer their registration to someone in their same booking ID (i.e. company or district) until November 23, 2021, by emailing email@example.com.
How do I edit my registration?
If you would like to make any changes to your registration prior to the conference (add meal functions, pre-conference activities), please log back into the AEC registration site to update your registration and/or call the Maritz AEC customer service line at (800) 424-5249.
Will my LEA’s CSBA membership dues payment affect my AEC registration?
Yes. School districts and county office of educations must have paid their CSBA membership dues in full on or before September 15, 2021 in order to attend AEC. If dues are unpaid, all registration(s) for that district or country office of education will be cancelled and a refund issued, minus the 25% processing fee.
How can I promote my organization at AEC?
CSBA offers numerous opportunities for exhibiting, sponsoring, or advertising your organization. Please note: CSBA has adopted a No Suitcasing Policy to protect its exhibiting companies from those who attempt to solicit business in the aisles, other companies’ booths, or public conference areas.
Can children attend events at AEC?
No. CSBA’s 2021 Annual Education Conference and Trade Show is designed for governing board members, student board members, superintendents, executive assistants, and district staff. Children under the age of 18, who are not student board members or session presenters, are not permitted to attend AEC General Sessions, breakout sessions, or other CSBA sponsored events, and are not allowed to be on the Trade Show Floor.
Can conference attendees under 21 years old attend conference events where alcohol is served?
No. Conference attendees and guests who are under 21 years of age may not attend CSBA sponsored events where alcohol is served.

Where will the 2021 Annual Education Conference and Trade Show be held?
CSBA’s 2021 Annual Education Conference and Trade Show will be held at the San Diego Convention Center, 111 W Harbor Drive, San Diego, CA 92101.
What is the dress code for the Annual Education Conference?
Most attendees wear business attire during their time at the conference. Please note that the conference is at a convention center where there can be varying degrees of temperature.
Is transportation to/from the convention center provided?
No. Transportation to/from the San Diego Convention Center will not be provided.

What accommodations are available to people with disabilities in attendance at AEC?
The California School Boards Association’s Annual Education Conference and Trade Show is accessible to persons using wheelchairs, and to other persons with disabilities for whom reasonable accommodation, such as assistive listening devices for the deaf and informational materials in large print or alternate formats for those with vision-impairment, may be made available, if requested. Please contact Myel Jenkins at firstname.lastname@example.org. Provide at least 72 hours’ notice to help ensure availability of accommodation.
Persons with health-related considerations such as multiple chemical sensitivities, environmental illnesses, food allergies, or special dietary needs, may also notify Myel Jenkins when registering for the conference to determine whether special arrangements can be made for them.
Where can I find a schedule?
A schedule of the AEC can be found on the AEC website. Conference registrants can access all program information on the AEC app beginning in late November 2021.
How do I access breakout session handouts?
All session handouts will be available via the AEC app.
What are the pre-conference activities this year?
We will be offering 3 pre-conference activities on Wednesday, December 1, 2021. Please visit the AEC website for more information.
Does CSBA have a special room rate for AEC participants?
Yes. AEC hotels and their rates can be found on the AEC website.
Can I book a room for a Pending Board Member/Superintendent?
Yes. Your district can hold a maximum of (2) pending reservations in the block until Friday, August 20, 2021. At this date if you have not added a name to the pending reservations the rooms will be released, and you will be charged 1 night’s room and tax for each room. Maritz will accept new reservation requests until 3:00 p.m. (PST) on November 11, 2021. Reservations may be cancelled by emailing email@example.com.
What is the hotel cancellation policy?
The hotel requires cancellation notice 72 hours prior to the reservation date to avoid a cancellation penalty. Failure to arrive on your scheduled arrival date will result in a penalty equal to one (1) night room and tax. In addition, your reservation will be canceled in its entirety. Penalties for early departure are enforced and vary by hotel. Make sure to verify your departure date with your hotel upon check-in. The hotel may charge a 1 night room and tax deposit upon receipt of the rooming list, on or after November 11, 2021. Penalties for early departures are enforced and vary by hotel.
