Board Presidents Workshop

Overview

Presiding over a School Board requires strong leadership, strategic vision and the ability to bring folks together to build a strong cohesive team. CSBA’s Board Presidents Workshop prepares you for this new role. Board Members will receive tips, tactics and techniques to build effective governance teams, conduct meaningful meetings and fulfill governance responsibilities while focusing efforts on improved student learning and achievement for all students.

The Program

During the Board Presidents Workshop, board members will receive tips and strategies — tried and true successful practices based on research and experience — to help them forge effective governance teams, conduct meaningful meetings and fulfill governance responsibilities in a way that focuses all district and county office efforts on improved student learning and achievement.

Who should attend?

The Board Presidents Workshop provides current and aspiring board presidents with tools for focused leadership.

Registration

The registration fee is $375. Registrations received between Nov. 14 – Nov. 24 will be charged the late registration fee of $425. Registrations will not be accepted after Nov. 24.

The Program

This full-day program is specifically tailored to meet the needs of new board members. Facilitated by the CSBA Masters in Governance (MIG) faculty, this session will provide new board members with the essential information and resources necessary to successfully manage the first months of being in office. Members will explore the connection between effective governance teams and student achievement. New board members will also learn critical elements related to their roles and responsibilities.

Legal Symposium for Experienced Board Members

Monday, November 30, 2020 |  8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Overview

The Legal Symposium for Experienced Board Members is a full-day pre-conference seminar held in conjunction with the Annual Education Conference and Trade Show. Experts in education offer their legal perspective on the timely and complex issues boards often face. Attendees will learn how to justly handle a variety of common legal situations they may encounter as board members.

The Program

The Legal Symposium is a quality investment in your professional development. During this pre-conference session, CSBA, in conjunction with California Council of School Attorneys (CCSA), will offer a range of sessions on the timely and complex issues boards often face and sessions on the newest topics. Up to 5.0 hours of MCLE credit is available for California attorneys.

Who Should Attend?

This seminar is designed for veteran board members who have a solid understanding of their board role.

*California Council of School Attorneys (CCSA) is a State Bar of California MCLE Provider.
