Overview
Directing a board requires strong leadership, strategic vision, and the ability to pull together members of a team. The CSBA Board Presidents Workshop prepare you for this new role. Board members receive tips, tactics, techniques, and they learn the art of a building an effective governance team.
The Program
During this workshop you will be taught the tools for focused leadership, you will hear the stories of tried-and-true successful practices that are based in research and experience. You will also be taught how to forge effective governance teams, conduct meaningful meetings, and fulfil governance responsibilities in a way that helps your district or county offices in your efforts to improve student learning and achievement.
Who should attend?
The Board Presidents Workshop provides current and aspiring board presidents with tools for focused leadership. Please note that registration is required for all attendees and there is no onsite registration for this program.

The registration fee is $425, including breakfast and lunch. Registrations received after November 11 will be charged the late registration fee of $475.

Overview
This full-day program is specifically tailored to meet the needs of new board members. Facilitated by the CSBA Masters in Governance (MIG) faculty, this session will provide new board members with the essential information and resources necessary to successfully manage the first months of being in office.
The Program
During this workshop members will explore the connection between effective governance teams and student achievement. New board members will also learn critical elements related to their role and responsibilities.
Who Should Attend?
The Orientation for New Trustees provides new board members with tools to get hit the grounding running in their role. Superintendents are encouraged to attend with their board members. Please note that registration is required for all attendees and there is no onsite registration for this program.

Overview
The Legal Symposium for Experienced Board Members is a full-day pre-conference seminar held in conjunction with the Annual Education Conference and Trade Show. Experts in education offer their legal perspective on the timely and complex issues boards often face. Attendees will learn how to justly handle a variety of common legal situations they may encounter as board members.
The Program
The Legal Symposium is a quality investment in your professional development. During this pre-conference session, CSBA, in conjunction with California Council of School Attorneys (CCSA), will offer a range of sessions on the timely and complex issues boards often face and sessions on the newest topics. Up to 5.75 hours of MCLE credit is available for California attorneys.
Who Should Attend?
This seminar is designed for veteran board members who have a solid understanding of their board role. Please note that registration is required for all attendees and there is no onsite registration for this program.
