Student FAQ

Overview

This program is a full-day pre-conference activity held in conjunction with CSBA’s Annual Education Conference (AEC) and Trade Show.

Program

Student board members will collaborate in small groups and learn about key topics including:

  • Roles and responsibilities
  • Basic elements of good governance
  • Budget basics
  • Developing an action plan for community engagement
  • Advocating on student concerns and funding priorities
  • Best practices in communication and presenting information to your board

Who should attend?

This program is open to all current TK-12 student board members throughout California.

Registration

The registration fee for the Student Board Member Program is $500, including lunch. This ticket includes full access to the AEC conference. There is limited space for this dynamic program, so sign up early!

Student board members who want to attend the three-day AEC conference only may purchase a ticket for a registration fee of $295.

Student guest

Each student can register one guest for AEC, taking place Dec. 3-5. A student guest can be a parent, legal guardian or family member who is not affiliated with or employed by a California school district or county office of education (including board members, administrators, teachers, or staff). The student’s guest must check-in at registration to receive their badge credentials. There is no additional fee for registering a student’s guest. Coworkers or associates are not eligible to use the guest registration category. If this registration category is used by someone other than a qualified guest, the registrant will be charged a full conference registration rate for that person.

Note: The student’s guest is provided with access to all General Sessions and the Trade Show Floor. Meal functions require an additional purchased ticket for all attendees, including guests. The guest badge does not give access to the Student Board Member One-Day Program on Dec. 2. A student’s guest may escort a minor to and from the pre-conference activity.

Waitlist and cancellation policy

In the event that the pre-conference activity reaches full capacity and is sold out, a waitlist will be initiated. Should a vacancy arise, the next individual on the waitlist will receive an invitation to purchase a ticket. To join the waitlist, proceed with the registration process and opt for the waitlist selection. For further assistance, please reach out to register@csba.org. Joining the waitlist does not guarantee ticket availability. CSBA will inform registrants promptly if a ticket becomes accessible. If the waitlist is initiated, it will close on Monday, Nov. 24. Should no tickets become available, registrants will receive notification that additional tickets will not be released. Review the comprehensive cancellation policy here.
