My session was accepted, now what?
Please complete the AEC Presenter Questionnaire survey emailed to you in your acceptance letter by Tuesday, August 18, 2020. Your responses to the survey will provide CSBA with additional information that will help inform the planning of the virtual AEC.
How will CSBA communicate with me regarding my session?
All of CSBA’s communications will be done through the email addresses provided during the proposal submission process.
What is the role of the session moderator?
The moderator will be the main point of contact for all conference-related correspondence between presenters and CSBA staff up to and through the Annual Education Conference. The moderator oversees the session development, communicates with CSBA staff, coordinates pre-conference preparations, schedules the recording, and acts as facilitator during the actual session. Each session can have 4 presenters, including the moderator. Please note that the designation of the moderator and presenter is used internally to indicate points of contact, but the moderator must be included on the panel.
Can I add or change presenters to my session’s panel?
How do I share my PowerPoint and handouts?
All PowerPoints must be sent using the 2020 AEC template and be sent as an editable PowerPoint format. Handouts must be a PDF or Word document and cannot exceed 10MB per document. Email your session’s PowerPoint and all handouts with the corresponding session title to email@example.com by September 18, 2020.
Will I be asked to participate in a virtual training class?
Yes. With virtual learning and presenting being a new landscape for most of us, CSBA is asking that all AEC presenters participate in an AEC Presenter Virtual Training class. The class will cover best practices for virtual presenting, what to expect when you arrive at the recording studio, and so much more! The AEC Presenter Virtual Training’s date/time will be provided shortly, based on information the collected in the AEC Presenter Questionnaire.
Will my session be pre-recorded?
Yes. All sessions will be pre-recorded in the Fall and premiere virtually at AEC on either Thursday, December 3, or Friday, December 4. Sessions will repeat throughout the day they are scheduled so attendees will have 2-3 opportunities to participate in each session.
Where will I record my session?
CSBA has identified 2 recording studios, San Diego and West Sacramento. Your session will be assigned to a recording studio location based on your panel’s location information.
What if I have changes to my presentation after it has been recorded?
CSBA will handle unique situations independently. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Who will my audience be?
The audience demographics for conference attendees are comprised of district governance teams; school board members, superintendents, high-level district and county office of education staff.
How will attendees give feedback on my session?
All session attendees will be directed to complete a survey within the session details.
Can attendees ask questions during the pre-recorded session?
Yes, if you requested a Q & A section in the AEC Presenter Questionnaire. Your session length will be reduced by 10 minutes to allow time for Q & A through a virtual chat between session attendees and a member of your panel. A panel member would need to be available to moderate and answer the questions at the conclusion of all views of the session. Please note that attendees will have 2-3 opportunities each day to participate in your session’s Q & A.
Will any conference-related presenter expenses be covered by CSBA?
No. CSBA is unable to absorb costs associated with presenting, including costs associated with traveling to/from the recording studios.
What will happen to my pre-recorded session after AEC?
Once AEC concludes, CSBA will transition the sessions into a channel of CSBA’s Online Learning Center, giving attendees access to AEC sessions in early 2021. You may indicate to opt your session out of this during the AEC Presenter Questionnaire.
Who do I contact if I have a general question about my CSBA presentation?
Please direct all questions to Samantha Archey, Program Coordinator of Conferences, at email@example.com.
