Housing Pirates – What Are They and What You Should Do About It
A housing pirate is a company other than Maritz Global Events that improperly solicits hotel reservations for this conference. Maritz Global Events is the Official Housing Provider for the California School Boards Association (CSBA) Annual Education Conference and Trade Show (AEC).
Reservations made by unaffiliated organizations may appear to have lower rates, however, they may be illegitimate, not have the rooms to sell, have unreasonable cancellation or change penalties, or be completely non-refundable. Please be aware of and report any unauthorized solicitation to CSBA.
How do I pay for my registration?
Credit card: CSBA accepts MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover with expiration dates after December 31, 2024. Please do not include credit card information in emails.
Can I register onsite at conference?
Yes. Registration can be made onsite at the registration counter. There is no onsite registration for any of the pre-conference activities or programs.
Can I pay my AEC registration with a Purchase Order?
No. CSBA does not accept purchase orders.
How do I register a pending board member or superintendent?
Please contact the CSBA Registrar at register@csba.org to request a pending contact record.
How do I update my district roster?
Please contact the CSBA Registrar at register@csba.org to update your roster.
I am an individual who would like to register myself, and need my CSBA Member ID to register. Who should I contact?

I am an Executive Assistant who would like to register my board and superintendent, and need my CSBA Company ID to register. Who should I contact?
Please email the CSBA registrar at register@csba.org to obtain your CSBA Company ID.
Can I register onsite for pre-conference activities or programs?
No. There is no on-site registration for the Pre-conference Activities, Executive Assistant Program, and the Student Board Member Program.
There is limited space available for each activity, so sign-up early! Once the program is sold out, no more registrations will be accepted. You may add yourself to the waiting list, but you will not be guaranteed a spot.
Who can attend the conference?
CSBA’s 2024 Annual Education Conference and Trade Show is available to CSBA member districts and county offices of education. We encourage district board members, student board members, superintendents, executive assistants, and district/county staff to attend.
Can my spouse come to AEC with me?
Yes. Each full conference registrant is limited to one spouse registration at the $175 rate. A spouse is defined as a significant other who is not affiliated with or employed by a California school district or county office of education (including board members, administrators, teachers, or staff). Co-workers or associates are not eligible to use the spouse registration category. If this registration category is used by someone other than a spouse, the registrant will be charged a full conference registration rate for that person.
What events can my spouse attend?
Spouses will receive a badge giving them access to all general sessions, breakout sessions and the Trade Show Floor. Meal functions require an additional purchased ticket for all attendees, including spouses.
I have already registered but I am no longer able to attend AEC; can I transfer my registration?
Yes. Attendees can transfer their registration to someone in their same booking ID (i.e. company or LEA) until December 5, 2024, by emailing register@csba.org or visiting the registration counter on-site.
How do I edit my registration?
If you would like to make any changes to your registration prior to the conference (add meal functions, pre-conference activities), please log back into the AEC registration site to update your registration and/or call the Maritz AEC customer service line at (864) 641-6838.
What is the cancellation policy?
Please click here to view the complete cancellation policy. This includes a policy for pre-conference/programs, conference ticket, and meal functions.
Will my LEA’s CSBA membership dues payment affect my AEC registration?
Yes. School districts and county office of educations must have paid their CSBA membership dues in full on or before September 13, 2024 in order to attend AEC. If dues are unpaid, all registration(s) for that district or country office of education will be cancelled and a refund issued, minus the 25% processing fee.
How can I promote my organization at AEC?
CSBA offers numerous opportunities for exhibiting, sponsoring, or advertising your organization. To learn more about exhibiting or sponsoring, please email exhibitor@csba.org. Please note: CSBA has adopted a No Suitcasing Policy* to protect its exhibiting companies from those who attempt to solicit business in the aisles, other companies’ booths, or public conference areas.
*No Suitcasing Policy: CSBA will not permit suitcasing, which is when non-exhibitors canvas, solicit, hold conferences, or distribute literature or other promotional devices during the conference.

Housing Questions
Does CSBA have a special room rate for AEC participants?
Yes. AEC hotels and their rates can be found on the AEC website.
When is the housing deadline?
The housing deadline is Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. (PST). You may make any changes to your reservation online, or via email at csba@maritz.com. Please contact your hotel directly, on or after Friday, November 15, 2024, to make changes.
Can I book a room for a Pending Board Member/Superintendent?
Yes. All hotel rooms confirmed in your group block must have names assigned no later than Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. (PDT) (with the exception of any pending reservations within your block). Your local education agency (LEA) is allowed to hold a maximum of two (2) pending reservations until the housing deadline, Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. (PST). Click here to view the full housing policy.
What is the hotel cancellation policy?
All hotel reservations require a credit card guarantee. To avoid incurring a cancellation penalty, guests must provide advance notice of their cancellation. We recommend clarifying the cancellation policy directly with the hotel, as each establishment may have its own unique policies. Failure to arrive on your scheduled arrival date will result in a penalty equal to one (1) night’s room and tax. In addition, your reservation will be canceled in its entirety. Penalties for early departure are enforced and vary by hotel. Make sure to verify your departure date with your hotel upon check-in. The hotel may charge a one (1) night’s room and tax deposit upon receipt of the rooming list, on or after Monday, November 11, 2024. Click here to view the full housing policy.
What does the housing blackout period mean?
Between Monday, November 11, 2024 and Thursday, November 14, 2024 we appreciate your understanding as we observe a blackout period for transferring information directly to the hotels within the CSBA negotiated room blocks. During this period, contacting the hotels directly may result in information not being readily available. We recommend contacting the hotel on or after Friday, November 15, 2024 for assistance.
